Abstract

This study examines the relationships between school religious culture, the exemplary behavior of Islamic Religious Education teachers, and the moral integrity of high school students in Sukabumi, Indonesia. Employing a quantitative explanatory approach with a cross-sectional survey design, data were collected from 125 students using a structured questionnaire measured on a five-point Likert scale. Multiple linear regression analysis was conducted using IBM SPSS Statistics version 25 to evaluate the individual and simultaneous contributions of the independent variables. The findings reveal that school religious culture and teacher exemplary behavior are positively and significantly associated with students’ moral integrity, with teacher exemplary behavior emerging as the stronger predictor. The overall regression model was statistically significant, explaining 29.8% of the observed variation in moral integrity (R² = 0.298). These findings highlight the complementary roles of institutional religious practices and teachers’ ethical modeling in students’ moral development. The study contributes to Islamic character education literature by distinguishing moral integrity from broader character-related outcomes and providing context-specific empirical evidence. Practically, the findings underscore the importance of aligning meaningful religious school cultures with consistent teacher role modeling to strengthen students’ ethical development.
